About the Team
At Nutanix, the Test Engineering team is a close-knit group of six dedicated Test Engineers, with five members stationed on-site at our San Jose headquarters and one working remotely from Austin, TX. You will report to the Sr. Manager of Test Engineering, who is committed to guiding the team through projects and professional development. This role requires you to work on-site at our San Jose headquarters, which helps facilitate direct communication and effective teamwork. While the position is primarily based in the office, we expect you to be present in the San Jose office most of the time. You'll work hands-on with physical hardware in our on-site lab and occasional on-site at our manufacturing partner that is based in San Jose. In this role, you will collaborate closely with internal HW Platform, Component, Quality and Supply Chain teams to create and deliver innovative solutions and drive best-in-class quality thru robust testing of server products built at external manufacturing partner sites and shipped worldwide in conjunction with our broad portfolio of enterprise software solutions. Travel requirements are minimal, with approximately 10–15% travel needed to actively manage and support our Contract Manufacturers (CMs). This ensures you have hands-on experience and the opportunity to strengthen our external partnerships while living out our commitment to quality.
Your Role
1. Test Strategy & Planning
- Contribute, review, and evaluate partner test plans and product strategies, ensuring system integration expectations are met and coverage of all major components are achieved.
- Define, update, and provide inputs to test plans that include test flow details, capacity analysis, equipment requirements, and coverage analysis.
- Develop and implement DFx policies, standards, and procedures for manufacturing test engineering and server platforms.
2. Test Automation & Infrastructure
- Develop, write, modify, and debug automated test solutions to test/validate x86 or AMD server platforms for functional test. This includes driving changes and making code enhancements to improve throughput.
- Build and maintain scalable, automated test infrastructure capable of collecting product genealogy, test records, and test logs, leveraging knowledge of standard network architecture and database solutions.
- Utilize Linux and Unix development platforms to initiate electronic software modifications, formulate source control applications, and implement code reviews for applicable electronic system hardware.
- Leverage AI tools and technologies (e.g., Cursor, Claude, Gemini, and Glean) to accelerate and enhance test code development, automate code reviews, and streamline debugging processes.
3. Vendor, Partner & Supply Chain Management
- Suggest and drive productivity and efficiency improvements at system integrator and partner sites.
Work with vendors to procure, build, and expand current testing solutions and infrastructure. - Develop test solutions that enable Contract Manufacturers to quickly and accurately analyze, troubleshoot, and identify root cause failure analysis.
4. Quality Assurance & Root Cause Analysis
- Perform root cause, corrective, and preventative analysis.
- Drive product quality through the influence of design for test (DFT), fishbone diagrams, FMEA analysis, and monitoring manufacturing, field, and RMA quality data.
5. Operational Excellence & Analytics
- Develop data collection strategies, tools, or dashboards for the monitoring of test capacity and yields.
- Utilize AI or automation tools to generate automated reports, analyze complex manufacturing data sets, and extract actionable insights for yield improvements.
- Continuously pursue and find opportunities for test improvements, test time reductions, assurance of on-time delivery expectations, and cost-effective solutions.
6. Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead and/or actively participate in weekly technical meetings such as code sprints and reviews and actively participate in quality and lifecycle management meetings.
- Influence cross-functional teams to ensure seamless product introduction, effective product test coverage, and lifecycle management.
What You Will Bring
- BS/MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, EE or equivalent/related fields
- Prior relevant experience in automation for testing of x86/AMD type server and storage products ideal or other networking or HW system related products
- 10+ years of direct experience in developing SW solutions and automation for manufacturing related production test integration processes
- Strong knowledge of automation software and/or scripting languages: Python, C/C#/C++, Perl, TCL, .NET, NI TestStand, JSON, VBScript
- Strong OS and Network knowledge: Linux, Windows, VLANs, Switching, DHCP
- Deep understanding of code release methodologies leveraging Git/Github and tracking/managements tools such as JIRA
- Database knowledge - MySQL, Mongo, Postgres; Building PXE Boot ISOs; REST/SOAP APIs/MCPs; UI Design; and Analytic Platform experience
- Hypervisor and Virtualization knowledge of AHV and Containerized Solution knowledge with Docker or Kubernetes a plus
Additional Job Requirements
- Manage and apply standard SW lifecycle code development which include - plan, code, build, test, release, deploy, and monitor for new product and existing products.
- Using JIRA projects/storyboards for creating and managing SPRINTs planning and releases along with source control tools like Git/Github and Agile methodologies.
- Broad test related background in the Storage/Server related products/systems.
- Create SW and HW test solutions that are robust, scalable, consistent, and reliable for large scale production.
- Ability to distinguish between HW and/or SW product issues is desirable.
- Coordinate and apply ECO’s for Firmware, Software, and Hardware changes.
- Strong problem solving, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to support and provide escalation level triage for all factory test related issues and support of field issues related NX platforms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to present technical issues and project status to peers, mgmt and/or x-functional teams.
- Ability to lead large projects, develop project plans and work with cross-functional teams in order to deliver objectives.
- Shows grit and composure and can handle stressful situations under tight time constraints.
- Drive innovation, leverage AI to improve engineering efficiency, and maintain a bias for action in taking on new challenges.
- Capability to understand product specifications and features to drive appropriate SW solutions and test requirements that include fault detection and FMEA.

Work Arrangement
On Site: This role is based on-site, offering the opportunity to collaborate face-to-face with team members in a dynamic and engaging work environment. Being physically present allows for seamless teamwork and direct access to resources that support your success. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 138,000 and USD $ 207,000 per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
